FIFA has officially announced the dates for Ghana’s Black Stars’ next round of matches in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers, with two crucial fixtures set for September 2025.
According to the global football governing body, Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in back-to-back Group I encounters as the qualification campaign intensifies.
The Black Stars will first travel away to face Chad on Friday, September 5, 2025, before returning to host Madagascar in Ghana on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
These two fixtures are pivotal as Ghana aims to secure its return to the global stage following its group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The team currently sits in a competitive Group I, which also includes Mali, Comoros, and the Central African Republic.
Head coach Otto Addo is expected to name his squad for the September games in the coming weeks, with many eyes on the fitness and form of key players including Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Inaki Williams.
The announcement of the fixture dates allows the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and other stakeholders to begin logistical preparations, including venue confirmation, ticketing, and team travel arrangements.
Ghana will be hoping to build momentum from earlier rounds of the qualifiers and consolidate its position among the top contenders in the group.
Only the winners of each of the nine CAF qualification groups will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The best four second-placed teams across the groups will have a chance to compete in an intercontinental playoff for additional qualification slots.
