[PICTURES] National Security Deputy and Environment Minister After Fatal Helicopter Crash
Tamale, Northern Region — The Ghanaian nation has bid farewell to two prominent public officials — Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation — who tragically lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.
The solemn burial rites were held on Sunday, August 10, in Tamale, in full accordance with Islamic tradition. The two statesmen were among eight people killed when the military helicopter they were traveling in went down during official duties.
The Janazah prayers were performed at the Central Mosque in Tamale, after which the bodies were laid to rest at the Tamale Cemetery. The ceremonies were marked by grief, dignity, and calls for national reflection.
A cross-section of dignitaries attended the funeral, including senior government officials, Members of Parliament, political party representatives, religious leaders, and residents, all gathered to pay their last respects.
“Their passing is a monumental loss, not only to their families but to the entire nation. May Allah grant them Jannah and comfort their loved ones,” one of the officiating Imams prayed.
Both men were celebrated for their decades of public service, dedication to national development, and commitment to the well-being of their communities. Messages of condolence have poured in from across Ghana and beyond, underscoring the impact of their contributions to the country.
Investigations into the cause of the helicopter crash are ongoing, with the government assuring the public of a thorough probe into the tragedy.
