Accra, Ghana – A tragic road accident in Accra’s Central Business District (CBD) on Monday, September 2, 2025, has claimed the life of an elderly woman and left multiple others injured after an Ayalolo bus veered off the road and collided with traders near the COCOBOD building.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. and involved an Ayalolo bus bearing registration number GT 5493–17. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle lost control and mounted the pavement where traders were conducting business.
David Amoateng, President of the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) and a witness to the crash, recounted on Adom FM’s Kasiebo is Tasty programme that the bus first struck two other vehicles—a sprinter bus (GR 2238–X) and a double-cabin pickup (GW 2377–Y)—before hitting the traders.
Mr. Amoateng suggested that the collision with the two vehicles may have prevented the bus from fully mounting the pavement in front of the COCOBOD building, potentially averting further casualties among traders.
Several injured victims were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
