BREAKING: LAFC Advancing in Talks to Sign Tottenham Star Son Heung-min
Los Angeles, USA — Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC (LAFC) are reportedly advancing in negotiations to sign Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min, in what could become one of the most high-profile transfers in MLS history.
Sources close to the matter indicate that talks between the two clubs have moved into advanced stages, with LAFC making a serious push to secure the services of the 33-year-old South Korean international.
Son Heung-min, who has been a central figure at Tottenham since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, remains under contract with the North London club until 2026, following the activation of a one-year extension. However, both parties are said to be open to a summer move should the right offer materialise.
The potential deal is seen as a major coup for LAFC, who are looking to strengthen their squad with a marquee signing following recent departures. Son Heung-min’s global appeal, goal-scoring pedigree, and commercial value make him a highly attractive prospect for the Los Angeles-based club.
While financial terms have not been disclosed, reports suggest that Tottenham may be willing to let their captain leave for a fee in the region of £15–20 million. A final decision, however, is not expected until after Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia concludes in early August, given Son’s significant commercial influence in the region.
If completed, the move would not only bolster LAFC’s ambitions on the field but also represent a significant step forward in Major League Soccer’s growing appeal to elite international talent.
