NADMO Staff Found Dead in Stream at Kwabre East
A 60-year-old staff member of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Thomas Obeng, has been found dead in a stream between Abira and Krobo in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The body was discovered on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Obeng had been recovering from an illness and reportedly left his hometown of Abira to visit his wife in the nearby Krobo community. He informed her that he planned to return to Abira but was never seen again.

The police recovered his lifeless body from the stream and conveyed it to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation and further examination.

Obeng was a married man with one daughter and had previously served as an Assembly Member for Abira.

The cause of death remains unclear. An autopsy is expected to provide more clarity.

Community leaders have expressed concern over the incident, especially given local beliefs. Nana Adu Adjei, the Chief Linguist of Abira, urged the youth and general public to avoid visiting the river on Tuesdays, a day considered sacred in the community.
