The Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have officially confirmed the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Group of Companies.
According to a family statement, Apostle Safo died peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a citation of Romans 14:8:
“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”
The confirmation ends days of speculation and conflicting reports about the health of the revered religious leader, technologist, and industrialist.
A National Icon
Apostle Kwadwo Safo, often referred to as the “Star of Africa,” was celebrated not only as a spiritual leader but also as a visionary innovator who championed local technology and industrialization in Ghana. Through the Kantanka brand, he developed automobiles, machines, and electronic appliances locally, inspiring generations of engineers and inventors.
He was also known for his philanthropic works, empowering the youth with skills and employment opportunities while spreading his Christian mission across the country.
Mourning & Tributes
The Kristo Asafo Church has called on members and the general public to remain calm and united as funeral arrangements are made.
Tributes have already begun pouring in from political leaders, industry players, and the Christian community, all describing Apostle Safo as a man whose life’s work will remain etched in Ghana’s history.
