Kokofu Paramount Queen Mother Expected To Assumes Role as Acting Asantehema
Kumasi, Ghana – Following the sudden passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the paramount queen mother of Kokofu, Osagyefo Kissiwaa Baayie II, known privately as Christiana Adu Gyamfi, has assumed the position of acting Asantehemaa of the Asante Kingdom.
According to sources gathered by Gh Page, the Asantehene, with guidance from the Kokofuhemaa and the Kenyaasihemaa, is expected to select a new Asantehemaa within the next two weeks.
In the interim, the Kokofuhemaa will serve as the acting head of the Asante royal household, overseeing the affairs of the Asante Kingdom until the appointment of a new Asantehemaa.
It is also reported that following the selection of the new Asantehemaa, the final funeral rites of Nana Konadu Yiadom III will be observed, marking the conclusion of the kingdom’s mourning period.
This development underscores the traditional protocols of the Asante royal family, ensuring continuity in leadership while honoring the legacy of the late Asantehemaa.
