Ghana Donates 40 Metric Tons of Premium Cocoa to Palestine Amid Gaza Crisis
In a bold gesture of solidarity and compassion, the Government of Ghana has donated 40 metric tons of premium cocoa products to the people of Palestine, offering humanitarian relief amid the deepening crisis in Gaza.
The donation—comprising Golden Tree-branded chocolates and cocoa-based items—was officially presented to Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdul Fattah Ahmed Khalil al-Sattari, during a ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, August 1, 2025.
“A Symbolic and Practical Gesture” — President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama, who led the presentation, described the donation as both symbolic and practical, highlighting the strong diplomatic and historical ties between Ghana and Palestine.
“Cocoa is one of Ghana’s most treasured natural resources, representing our values of resilience, warmth, and generosity,” said President Mahama.
“It’s a powerful superfood that we hope will bring nourishment and comfort to Palestinian families facing unimaginable hardship.”
He recalled Ghana’s long-standing relationship with Palestine, dating back to the establishment of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s office in Accra in 1986, and recent high-level visits, including Ghana’s Chief Justice and Religious Affairs Advisor visiting President Mahmoud Siddiqui al-Habash.
Support for Peace and a Two-State Solution
President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s unwavering commitment to a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.
“We urge all parties to embrace dialogue and international law. The rights of both Palestinians and Israelis to live peacefully must be respected,” he emphasized.
He also called on Israeli authorities to open humanitarian corridors, adding that the international community must continue to push for peace, justice, and the preservation of human dignity.

Palestinian Ambassador Expresses Deep Gratitude
Ambassador Al-Sattari, visibly moved, thanked Ghana for the “incredible act of compassion,” adding that the donation would bring immense joy to children and families in Gaza.
“If this chocolate reaches Gaza, and I’m sure it will, you cannot imagine how happy the children will be—just seeing it. When they taste it, it will mean the world,” he said.
He described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as dire, citing widespread starvation due to the blockade and intensifying conflict.
“My people have been suffering for years. But today, they will feel the warmth of Ghana’s friendship,” he added.
He also praised other nations—like Egypt and France—for supporting peace and advocating for a two-state resolution.
“You Do Not Walk Alone”
In closing, President Mahama delivered a heartfelt message:
“To our brothers and sisters in Palestine, know this: You do not walk alone. Ghana stands with you. May peace prevail.”
The ceremony was attended by government officials, diplomatic representatives, and humanitarian organizations, further underscoring the importance of the moment.
