DR. Prosper Nartey Ogum Appointed Ghana U-17 Head Coach, Succeeds Frimpong Manso and Desmond Ofei

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as the new head coach of the national U-17 men’s football team, the Black Starlets. His appointment marks a significant reshuffle in the national team’s youth coaching structure, as he replaces Frimpong Manso at the helm.

In addition to his new role with the U-17 side, Dr.  Prosper Nartey Ogum has also been named the new Head of Coach Education, a position previously held by Desmond Ofei. This dual appointment underscores the GFA’s confidence in Ogum’s technical acumen and strategic insight, especially following his previous stints with clubs including WAFA SC and most recently, Asante Kotoko.

Dr.  Prosper Nartey Ogum, who holds a doctorate in Physical Education and Sports Science, brings a reputation for player development and tactical discipline, qualities considered essential for nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian football talent. His coaching philosophy is expected to align with the GFA’s renewed focus on youth development, following Ghana’s underwhelming performances in recent U-17 tournaments.
