Eberechi Eze to Arsenal?: Financial Terms Agreed but Palace Delay Transfer
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of England international Eberechi Eze following their Community Shield triumph, with financial terms already settled between the Gunners and Crystal Palace, My News Ghana has learned.
According to transfer insiders, Arsenal have agreed to pay a total of €63.5 million (£55 million) for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder. The deal will see €34.5 million (£30 million) paid upfront, while the remaining sum will be covered in instalments. The precise payment structure is still under discussion between the two clubs.
Despite the financial breakthrough, the transfer is yet to be finalised. Sources indicate that the main obstacle is Crystal Palace’s reluctance to approve the sale without first securing a capable replacement for one of their most influential players.
The situation is further complicated by uncertainty in Palace’s hierarchy. The club has yet to appoint a successor to departing sporting director Dougie Freedman, who was instrumental in overseeing player recruitment and transfer negotiations.
Eze, who played a pivotal role for Palace last season, has been a long-term target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as he looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League campaign. The coming days are expected to be decisive as both clubs navigate the final hurdles to the deal.
