Hilda Baci is the new holder of the Guinness World Record for Cooking

It is now official! Hilda Baci has been named the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual by Guinness World Records.

In May 2023, Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef and content developer, cooked for 100 hours nonstop. Her goal was to break the previous record, which was held by an Indian cook named Lata Tondon. Lata set this record in 2019 by cooking nonstop for 87 hours and 45 minutes. Hilda Baci’s supporters persuaded her to cook for an additional 4 hours, bringing her total cooking time to 100 hours.

The Official Announcement

GWR announced Hilda as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual at 9:53 a.m. today, June 13th, 2023.
Despite being the new record holder, Chef Hilda was only given 93 hours 11 minutes out of the 100 hours she cooked.

Why was just 93 hours and 11 minutes confirmed by Guinness World Records?

The records team claims that Hilda’s interim rest breaks were computed incorrectly. As a result, GWR did not award her the 100-hour cook-a-thon record.

Official Rules Laid Out By GWR

  • There must be two items or foods being prepared or cooked at the same time
  • The number, name and weight of every cooked item must be submitted
  • Participants are allowed only Five minutes break for every hour they complete
