I never said Mahama or Bawumia will be the president of Ghana – Speaker of Parliament

The next president of Ghana will not be from the north, according to media reports, which have been denied by Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The next president of Ghana will either be Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia or Former President John Dramani Mahama, the Office of the Speaker of Parliament claims. He made the statement at Damongo in the Savannah Region when he called on the Yagbonwura as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy in Ghana.
The Speaker’s office clarified in the statement released on June 15, 2023, that Alban Bagbin was just stating that northerners should be proud of having their own represented in higher posts.
“We want it noted that although the Speaker made mention to the two lawmakers present at the event, it was not a prediction exercise.

He said that the people of northern Ghana should be proud of the fact that they will be well represented at the top of Ghana’s political structure, which is the context in which he was speaking.
We are one people with a common future, the Rt. Hon. Speaker said, notwithstanding our political differences. In light of this, our shared objective—regardless of our political differences—should be to work for the welfare of all Ghanaians.
It was made clear in the statement that neither Bawumia nor Mahama were singled out by Alban Bagbin.
