I will win ten times in Assin North by-elections if there are ten of them– James Gyakye Quayson

James Gyakye Quayson, the newly elected MP for Assin North, asserts his confidence in the support of constituents.
This comes after his triumph in the most recent by-election held in the constituency.
After Parliament informed the Electoral Commission in writing that the seat was empty, the exercise became obligatory.
The Supreme Court had previously determined that the Electoral Commission had violated the Constitution by permitting Mr. Quayson to run in the 2020 parliamentary election without providing evidence that he had renounced his Canadian citizenship.
In its decision, the supreme court mandated that James Gyakye Quayson’s name be removed from the records of the House of Representatives.

It further stated that his election was invalid, void, and without consequence. It was also ruled that his oath of office was unlawful.
The Attorney General subsequently accused the former MP of falsification and perjury.
Mr. Gyakye Quayson, who was in court this morning for his criminal prosecution, claimed in a statement to JoyNews that the electorates in his constituency cannot be misled by the ruling New Patriotic Party.
“Nothing can separate the inhabitants of Assin North from one another. And I shall prevail ten times if they (NDC) decide to have by-elections ten times. I can make that promise.
He emphasized, “They are not in it for the money; they are in it for actual growth, and I can say that I am now the first gentleman of Assin North.
