Kwesi Botchway’s Report Not Meant For Public Consumption; It’s Recommendations Being Implemented – Asiedu Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has emphatically stated that the findings of the Prof. Kwesi Botchway Report on the outcome of the 2020 elections were not meant for the public.
According to him, the party had a definite decision not to make contents of the report public.
Asiedu Nketia was speaking on CTV’s political show today 1st September, 2023 on a number of happenings within the NDC, and when his attention was drawn to some aspects of the report, he quizzed the host, “Have you sighted a copy of the report?” He opined that it was unwise to put out the report into the public domain. When that happens those who have been indicted by the report would be seen by others in bad light which doesn’t augur well for party cohesion.
Touching on the overseas branches of the NDC, General Mosquito, as he is popularly known, averred that, the party has a lot of overseas branches and each is contributing their quota towards the party. With reference to the NDC South Africa, he acknowledged receipt of their contributions and thanked Mr. Benjamin Quashie’s efforts towards the party and that of SA NDC Chapter.

Responding to why some appointments are made in the NDC hierarchy, he explained that the party has five Vice Chairpersons. “Three are elected and two are appointed. The rationale is to get leaders of varied technical expertise, taking into consideration gender, regional balance and inclusiveness to help in manning the party’s activities across the country. Not all elected officers may have some requisite expertise, so appointments are made to fill the void”
He added, “There was a time we didn’t have anyone from my region, Brong Ahafo, who was part of the National Executives. It was after this then the party decided to reserve some appointments to cater for all those balances”, Chairman Asiedu Nketia explained.
Regarding the contents of the Prof. Kwesi Botchway Report, the Venerable Asiedu Nketia underscored the fact that there was a decision not to make the contents public. “But, we are implementing its recommendations”, he stated, adding, “the recommendations are part of the party’s rebuilding efforts and “I’m not prepared to disclose the contents, neither am I going to answer any question regarding the contents of the report”, Mr. Nketia emphasized.
