Man Arrested with Loaded Pistol on Kumasi–Tarkwa Bound Bus at Obuasi Barrier
A man has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service after he was found in possession of a loaded pistol on a commercial bus travelling from Kumasi to Tarkwa. The arrest occurred at the Obuasi security barrier during a routine police checkpoint inspection.
According to police sources, the suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was a passenger aboard an intercity vehicle when law enforcement officers conducted a search of the bus and its occupants.
During the search, officers discovered a concealed firearm—a loaded pistol—on the suspect. He was immediately apprehended and taken into custody for further investigation.
The Obuasi Divisional Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that the firearm was loaded with live ammunition. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the suspect’s possession of the weapon, including whether he has links to any criminal activity or intended to use the weapon unlawfully.
The suspect is expected to be processed for court after preliminary investigations, including verification of the gun’s ownership and licensing status.
