The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of Wednesday’s fatal military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight prominent individuals, including two ministers of state.
In a statement issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party described the incident as a “devastating blow” not just to the families of the deceased, but to the entire nation, citing the critical roles the victims played in national development.
The NPP extended condolences to the families affected and urged Ghanaians to support those left behind, emphasizing the need for unity, compassion, and strength during what it described as “an excruciatingly difficult period.”
Importantly, the party demanded answers and accountability, insisting that only a swift and independent investigation into the crash will honour the dignity of those lost and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
“The dignity of the lives lost demands answers and accountability to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again,” the statement read.
The party’s reaction comes as authorities continue efforts to recover and identify the victims and establish the cause of the crash. The Ghana Armed Forces have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
The accident marks the second military helicopter crash in Ghana in less than two years, raising fresh questions about safety protocols and operational oversight.
The NPP concluded its statement by urging Ghanaians to stand together in the face of tragedy, and expressed hope that the souls of the deceased would “rest in perfect peace.”

Further updates will be provided as investigations proceed.
