Cape Coast, Ghana – A tragic road accident on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway has left one woman dead and at least 19 others injured.
The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday in front of the NDC Regional Office in Cape Coast.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a stationary Man Diesel truck (registration WR 1546-V), which had reportedly broken down, and a Mercedes Sprinter bus (registration CR 623-25) traveling towards Cape Coast.

Reports indicate the Sprinter, while attempting to overtake another vehicle, crashed into the parked truck, trapping several passengers inside the bus.
A rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), working with the National Ambulance Service, managed to free three trapped victims. Sadly, one woman was confirmed dead at the scene.
The 18 surviving passengers were rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Ghana Police Service and the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) were also present at the scene, helping to control traffic and secure the area.
Authorities have since urged motorists to drive with caution, especially when overtaking or approaching broken-down vehicles on major highways.
