Tema, September 11, 2025 — The Tema Community 1 District Police Command has arrested four men for allegedly attempting to traffic 315 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp concealed in vehicle tyres.
The suspects, identified as Nura Sali, 44, Pius Chukwuma, 49, Mustapha Umar, 18, and Abdulai Amayau, 23, were apprehended at the Tema Industrial Area during a targeted police operation.
Narcotics Hidden in Truck Tyres
According to police, the parcels were carefully packed into the tyres of a truck with registration number GN 7291-16, which was intercepted on Wednesday. Officers later discovered the illicit cargo after conducting a thorough search.
Court Proceedings
The suspects were arraigned before the Ashaiman Circuit Court on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The court ordered that they be remanded into police custody to assist further investigations.
They are expected to reappear in court on September 30, 2025. Meanwhile, the truck used in the operation has also been impounded on the court’s orders.
Police Warning
Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance and intelligence-led operations to clamp down on the transportation of narcotics within the Tema enclave and across the country.
