Policeman Killed as Masked Gunmen Attack at Sampa in Bono Region
A police officer has been confirmed dead following a violent gun attack by masked assailants in Sampa, a town in the Bono Region, on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, the gunmen opened fire in several parts of the community during what is believed to be a clash between two rival groups, sending residents fleeing for safety.
Adom News correspondent Christian Ofori-Akumah said the incident threw the town into chaos, prompting an immediate security response to restore order. Armed police and military personnel have since been deployed to intensify patrols and maintain calm across the area.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, preliminary information suggests it may be linked to ongoing tensions between local factions.
Authorities have launched investigations to identify the perpetrators and determine the cause of the violence.
As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not released an official statement on the incident, but security sources indicate that efforts are underway to prevent further escalation and apprehend those responsible.
Residents have been urged to remain indoors and cooperate with law enforcement as calm gradually returns to the town.
