The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is set to officially launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in a landmark event scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2025, at Black Park near Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
This highly anticipated initiative will be graced by H.E John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honor.
The launch, which begins promptly at 9:00 AM, aims to promote responsible mining practices and equip individuals, particularly the youth, with practical skills relevant to the mining industry and other allied sectors.
Also in attendance will be Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, who will deliver the keynote address and highlight the government’s broader vision for sustainable and community-based mining across the country.
The rCOMSDEP is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to formalize the small-scale mining sector, curb illegal mining (galamsey), and empower local communities through technical training and economic development.
The launch event is expected to draw dignitaries, local leaders, stakeholders in the mining sector, and representatives from cooperative groups nationwide.
