Scavenger arraigned for stealing Oyo government cables

Oyo state police command has arraigned a 46-year-old scavenger, Samson Kadiri, before Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan for allegedly stealing electric wire cables belonging to the state government.
Kadiri who was arraigned on two counts of wilful damage and theft on Monday, February 20, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the suspect on February 13, at about 7am, damaged the Oyo State Government property.
It was alleged that he allegedly cut and stole cable wires used in the electrification of Awotan refuse dump site at Apete, Ibadan worth N100,000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs P.O. Adetuyibi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was then adjourned till May 17 for hearing.
